The Golden Backpack Program (GBP) helps feed students in need during the school year by providing a sack full of enough food to feed a child for the entire weekend. This is a community effort involving partnerships with Food Bank of the Rockies, the Rotary Club of Golden, the Golden Rotary Foundation, and the entire Golden community. The GBP provides assistance to children and youth in eight local schools, including Mitchell Elementary, Shelton Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary, Welchester Elementary, Kyffin Elementary, Connections Learning Center, Bell Middle School and Golden High School.
During the summer months, healthy lunches are distributed in the community through the Snack-n-Wagon, a mobile food pantry.
